There’s nothing like the North Carolina mountains and Appalachian State University sits smack-dab in the middle of natural beauty. Located in Boone, North Carolina, Appalachian State University is home to some of the best opportunities in the country. With hundreds, if not thousands, of acres to explore in the Great Smokey Mountains, ASU is an outdoors man’s (or outdoors woman’s) paradise.
Don’t be deceived by the location thinking it’s too far in the mountains to amount to anything. It’s quite the opposite. Students at APP engage in cutting edge research, global learning, state of the art technology and resources and a growing academic community.
During my visit, we were introduced to their “most technologically advanced anatomy visualization system for anatomy education” on what is known as an Anatomage Table.

Formed in 2010, the Beaver College of Health Sciences is the 2nd largest college at ASU, “recognized nationally for innovation and collaboration in education, scholarship, and service that produces high quality graduates, attracts superior faculty and staff, and transforms the health and quality of life for the communities they serve.”
